Synopsis
The firefighters of Valparaiso’s 5th company are preparing themselves for the season of wildfires, but this year is different; since October 2019, the city has lived the rhythm of the barricades. Piropolis follows the men of this company, testifying to the links between these volunteer firefighters and the citizens of a country on the verge of a tipping point.
Director
Nicolas Molina is a Chilean filmmaker. His first and second documentary feature films, Beaverland (2014) and Flow (2018), premiered at the Sheffield Film Festival and won several awards. In 2021, he premiered Gaucho americano at Hot Docs International spectrum.
Producer
Joséphine Schroeder is a producer based in Chile and France. Co-founder of Pequén Productions, she has produced Story of my Name by Karin Cayul (IFFR 2019); Gaucho Americano (Hot Docs 2021) and Piropolis by Nicolás Molina; and 3 Brothers by Francisco Paparella.
