Synopsis
The New Ruins is an experimental essay that takes the form of a diary of archaeological notes that questions the current state of the relationship between electronic waste and historical memory. If obsolete technology becomes a lost hieroglyph to be deciphered, how will the history of the future be written?
Director
Buenos Aires, 1991. Member of Antes Muerto Cine. He has a degree in Audiovisual Arts from UNA – National University of the Arts. He participated in the Berlinale Talents (Berlin 2022) as an editor. In 2020, he premiered his first feature film What I’m Doing in this Visual World? and The New Ruins is his second feature film.
Producer
Joaquín Maito is part of the Antes Muerto Cine collective. He is a filmmaker, producer, photographer, and art director. In 2012, he premiered with Tatiana Mazú El estado de las cosas at Mar del Plata IFF. In 2018, he premiered Retrato de propietarios at Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Fest, winning the Best First Feature Film award.
