Conecta, the Meeting of the International Documentary Film Industry, took place from December 10 to 13, 2024, in Santiago, Chile. The event was organized by the Chilean Documentary Corporation (CCDoc) and brought together filmmakers with producers, sales agents, distributors, exhibitors, financiers, and prominent figures from the world’s leading markets and festivals. Conecta was supported by Chiledoc, the Chilean documentary sector brand, which sponsored the opening ceremony and facilitated the attendance of three invited guests.
Diego Pino, Executive Director of CCDoc, states: “Today we conclude these four intense, exciting, and fruitful days, during which we reflected on new stories, perspectives, and languages. This year, the participating projects present diverse views on our identity as Latin Americans and offer a reflective proposal on the world around us. All these realities and visions lead us to collectively consider the pressing question of the future of our sector and the planet, especially in a fractured, changing, and challenging global scenario for humanity.”
For the third consecutive year, the Pitch The Whickers session was held, led by Jane Mote, Editorial Consultant for The Whickers—a British fund aimed at strengthening the documentary industry. This year, eight debut feature projects were selected and presented their pitches to an international jury, competing for the £3,000 award, which was granted to the Mexican project Fosfo.
Over 100 applications were received in the fourth year of our partnership with the Santiago International Documentary Festival (FIDOCS) to carry out the Docs in Progress FIDOCS + Conecta section. Six projects were selected for this Work in Progress (WIP), where they participated in specialized mentoring and received feedback from both national and international industry agents.
