Synopsis
The grandchildren of repressors are the remaining, unopened archives. I’m Juliana, a filmmaker and granddaughter of a Black man who was a Navy commander during the dictatorship in Brazil. I seek the truth about my grandfather through archives, memories, and talks with my mother.
Director
Juliana is a director and screenwriter at Goiabeira Filmes. She directed Las Pastoras – Samba Chorous Singers (2018) and Say My Name (2020), awarded and licensed by Canal Brasil and Amazon Prime. She has taken part in labs such as FilmaAfro, Cine Qua Non Lab, and DOCSP.
Producer
A journalist, she began her career at TV Educativa (1978) and helped create the Journalism Unit at TV Manchete (1983) and Canal Futura (1997). Since then, she has worked as a freelance executive producer in film and TV, on titles such as Tô Ryca 2, Chatô, Anjos do Sol, and Say My Name, among others.
Producer
Colombian producer focused on documentary and fiction films, with works that explore regional identities and social perspectives. Winner of the FDC (2019, 2023), he has participated in the Marché du Film in Cannes, BAM, FICCI, SAPCINE and MAFIZ, promoting Latin American co-productions.
