The Hubert Bals Fund supports groundbreaking film projects in every stage of the production process, working especially with filmmakers from countries where local film funding and infrastructure is lacking or restrictive. The HBF focuses on supporting filmmakers from Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East and parts of Eastern Europe.
Ayumi Filippone
Ayumi has developed her professional career in international film festivals, coproduction markets and cultural organisations. In 2023 she started at IFFR as Coordinator of Hubert Bals Fund, and since 2025 as Project Manager, responsible for new funding schemes and international partnerships. She also manages the platform Match Me! at Locarno Pro.
