Synopsis

After the death of my grandmother, human rights lawyer Fabiola Letelier, I found a box of Hi-8 tapes in her closet. The footage from an unfinished film about her life, from 1995, uncovers how history is both recorded and invented, existing between archive and imagination.

  Elisa Leiva Anderson is a filmmaker and editor from Santiago, Chile. She is the editor of Towards the Sun, Far from the Center (Berlinale, 2024) and director of VISTAS (FicValdivia, 2016). She has an MFA in Documentary Film at Stanford University (2023–25) where she currently works.
