Synopsis

Gilmar, a Black Brazilian classical ballet dancer, prepares for his final performance after more than thirty years training young talents at the Bolshoi Ballet. But his story transcends the stage: he is a spiritual leader in an Afro-Brazilian religion. On the night of his farewell, another, older and sacred dance unveils a sacred secret.

  Isaac Donato is a Brazilian screenwriter and director. «Açucena(2021)», his first feature film, premiered at the 24ª Mostra de Cinema de Tiradentes(Brazil), where it won the Best Film Jury Prize. It had its internacional premiere at the True False Film Festival (USA).

  Marília Cunha is a Brazilian producer and screenwriter. She is currently an alumna of EURODOC 25. She produced and wrote the documentaries AÇUCENA (24th Tiradentes Film Festival – Jury Prize; True/False Film Festival; FIDBA) and NOT DEAD (27th Tiradentes Film Festival; DOK Leipzig; DocMontevideo).
