Synopsis
«The Last Guató is a poetic documentary set in Brazil’s Pantanal, where a river separates and connects Seu Vicente, the last fluent speaker of his language, and Francisca, a young teacher. Together, they fight to revive their voice before it vanishes.

Thamys Trindade is a Brazilian filmmaker and photographer focused on social and environmental issues. She has worked with Netflix, NatGeo, and Apple TV. She was part of March of the Jaguars, directed a short for Voice of the Oceans with the UN, and won the NatGeo UK Emerging Talent Grant.

Sofia Vontobel

Sofia Vontobel is a Brazilian creative and executive producer with over ten years in documentary filmmaking. An alumna of IDFAcademy and CPH:DOX Intro:Dox, she has produced for Amazon, HBO, and Arte1. Her film COPAN premiered at CPH:DOX 2025 and won Best Film at It’s All True.
