Ambulante is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and disseminating documentary filmmaking as a device for cultural and social transformation in Mexico and Central America. Founded in 2005 by Gael García Bernal, Diego Luna and Elena Fortes, and currently directed by Itzel Martínez del Cañizo, Ambulante seeks to create collective spaces of encounter and action to build alternatives for the world through documentaries.
Itzel Martínez del Cañizo
Filmmaker, researcher and film curator. M.A. in Art History, film studies from UNAM. General Director of Ambulante. She has been part of the programming team of this organization since 2016. She was founder of BorDocs Foro Documental (2003-2013) at the border and juror in multiple international film festivals.
