Synopsis
Jorge García embarks on a spiritual and sensory journey toward his Afro-Caribbean roots. A revelation drives him to seek closure and reconnect with his ancestors, finding strength in the collective memory and resilience of his people.

Director
Jorge García, a Garífuna artist, dancer, and musician, is the founder of Tambor Negro, a project that fuses Garífuna music, drums, and dance with contemporary forms. In 2025, he received a grant from the Latin Grammy Foundation. Where the Sun Is Born is his first film.

Co-producer of PANTASMA, Jury Award winner at Locarno Open Doors 2023. Producer of WHERE THE SUN IS BORN, supported by the Mexican and Central American Audiovisual Creation Stimulus (IMCINE, Mexico). Producer of DÍAS DE LUZ, which had its world premiere at the AFI Latin American Film Festival 2019.
