Synopsis
On the border between Ecuador and Colombia, Carmela welcomes into her home thousands of people crossing South America on foot during the Venezuelan exodus. Her mission does not stop despite the scourge of the pandemic, the lack of humanitarian aid and the sudden imprisonment of her husband.
Director / Producer
He has directed short documentaries in Ecuador, Bolivia and the United States that have been exhibited in 3 continents. He’s currently co-directing the documentary “Fabián” (Ecuador National Production Fund 2023). He holds a MFA in Social Documentary Film from the School of Visual Arts of New York. Produced Ukamau y Ké (2016) (MARFICI) and was part of the production of Madre Luna (2018) (IDFA Docs for Sale). Currently producing Carmela y los Caminantes and Fabián, projects with which they have participated in IDFAcademy, Sheffield MeetMarket, Ventana Sur, FICG Doculab, DocsMX, and others.
Director
He has worked with communities and social organizations in Ecuador linked to audiovisual production. He has directed short films related to indigenous peoples and migration. He is a founding member of CoopDocs and is currently developing the film “Del Páramo” (IBERMEDIA co-development fund).
