Synopsis
At 37, Ana recalls images from her last trip to Chiapas as she faces a late-stage breast cancer diagnosis. She finds refuge in her camera and family archive, drawn to the figure of her father, who emigrated from Ecuador to the United States. Through these images, she reflects on her journey, discovering that healing goes beyond the physical body.
Director
Ana Benítez, rom Quito, has produced PMT POETA, Bicentenario te cuento mi historia, and Enemigo Interno, and directed experimental shorts Vortex del placer sagrado and Aquí Nadie Ha Muerto. She participated in Talent Buenos Aires 2022 and founded Etérea in 2023 to develop MAMA and Quebrada.
Producer
Quito-based producer Bernarda graduated from Emily Carr University in Canada. Her short film Aguacero premiered at the OIAF in 2015. She worked as a cinematographer on Medanit and Among Us Women, winning the Best Cinematography award at MIFF 2022. She is the creative producer of Mama and Quebrada.
