Synopsis
Phenite’s story captures the Haitian diaspora’s struggle. As a single mother, she left Haiti to support her daughters, facing unemployment, xenophobia, and a right-wing government in Brazil. She then moved to French Guiana in search of a European visa. Her dream of reuniting with her daughters and returning to Haiti becomes the subject of a film.
Director
Alix Georges, a Haitian leader in Rio Grande do Sul, arrived in Brazil in 2006 and works on immigrant integration. A musician, actor, and director, he participated in «I Miss You» and «Se Essa Terra Fosse Minha?» and directed «Fè Mye Talè» (2018) and «Drapo a» (2022), showcased in over 35 festivals.
Director
Since 2015, Henrique Lahude has been researching and documenting the Haitian diaspora in south Brazil. He has produced and directed the short films «Fé Mye Talè»and «Drapo a», which participated in festivals like Kinoforum and the Gramado Festival, winning awards and being licensed by Canal Brasil.
Producer
Sofia Vontobel is a creative and executive producer. She graduated in Journalism and specializes in Cultural Economics. Focused on documentary production, she was alumni at IDFAcademy 2023. Sofia has over ten years of experience in cinema, television, journalism, and advertising.
