Synopsis
All families keep secrets; ours are intertwined with the history of dictatorships in the Dominican Republic. While I investigate the fraud accusations against my paternal grandfather, president of the Electoral Board in 1990, a similar scandal breaks out when the 2020 municipal elections are sabotaged.
Director
Nayibe Tavares-Abel is a propmaster, documentary filmmaker, and research consultant. She has directed the short films Carmencita (honorable mention at Trinidad and Tobago Film Festival 2020) and L’escalier de l’anxiété (Arts et Convergences Sélection, Paris 2020).
Producer
Lei González is an Afro-Caribbean producer and writer, passionate about vulnerable and bold stories. She produced Fronterizas, a finalist at the Sundance Short Film Competition in 2014. I Said I Would Never Talk About Politics was part of the official selection of the Zinebi section at the San Sebastian Film Festival 2015.
