Synopsis
Following in the footsteps of the indigenous photographer Martín Chambi in the communities he immortalized in his images, Thus Spoke the Mountains explores the Cusco region, showing the way of life of the Andean people, their cosmovision, religious syncretism, and festivities.

Green River. The Time of the Yakurunas (2017), his first feature-length documentary, premiered at the 67th Berlin Film Festival and the MoMA Doc Fortnight. Mothers of the Land (2019) premiered at the 69th Berlin Film Festival. Veins of the Amazon (2021) made its debut at the 64th DOK Leipzig.
Producer
Diego is a Fellow at Nia Tero Storytelling and a co-founder of QINE, an alternative film theatre in Cusco. Diego studied Media Production at the Catholic University of Peru and has a master’s degree in Documentary Filmmaking from EICTV in Cuba.

Graduated in filmmaking from the EICTV (International Film School of San Antonio de los Baños – CUBA) and from the Ateliers Varan (París). Co-directed the feature documentaries Propaganda (2014) and Dios (2019), premiered and awarded at Visions du Réel (Switzerland).
