Synopsis
The history of activism of a rural Ecuadorian radio station, Radio Latacunga, is rescued through a sonic journey created with cassette archives, broadcasters’ memories, and the childhood memories of a former journalist’s daughter. The film reconstructs the origin of the radio station’s dreams and past and presents its fight against racism, censorship, and oblivion.
Director / Producer
An Ecuadorian sociologist, audiovisual producer, and radio broadcaster. Jacqueline has three short films: Punk Flamingo (Editing stage. 8 min. 2017); Típico (In production. 5 min. 2022); and Titiritera (In production. 25 min. 2023). She is currently developing her first feature film, Turn off the Radio!
Producer
He is a documentary filmmaker, university teacher, social communicator, and permaculturist. He has worked as a director and editor on several projects. His debut feature, Guañuna, has been screened at several festivals and received the Audience Award at EDOC Ecuador (2022) and Kino Latino Belgium (2023).
